SCHEYVILLIANS: NEED A LAST-MINUTE CHRISTMAS GIFT?

If you need a last-minute Christmas gift here are a couple of books written by Scheyvillians that might ‘fit the bill’!

After leaving the Army Dick Whitaker (1/69) was a meteorologist with the Bureau of Meteorology for 31 years, followed by work with the Weather Channel and then as Chief Meteorologist at Sky News Weather until his retirement.

Dick’s latest book is “From Gods to Gigabytes – a Brief History of Weather Forecasting”. It tells the fascinating story of weather forecasting – from the worship of Sky Gods, indigenous prediction using the behaviour of plants and animals, up to the present day with radar, satellites and supercomputers. The book is priced at $30.35 including postage to your location within Australia. To order send Dick an email: weathersmart047@gmail.com

Gary McKay (2/68) continued in the Army post-NS for a 20-year career. He is well-known and respected as a military author having written 22 books, however his latest, a self-published book printed in Melbourne, puts together his military experience and contact with the Australian Federal Police.

One review of Dancing in the Daintree reads: “Like an Australian James Bond, Dancing in the Daintree is a fast-paced, action-packed adventure set in tropical North Queensland. With an easy-going style, unforgettable characters and peppered with Australian humour, it is a great read. Highly enjoyable!”

The book is priced at $34 including postage to your location within Australia. To order send an email to Gary at garymckay@bigpond.com
