April Monthly Lunch – Wed 14 April

Gdday All,

Our April lunch is booked for 12.30 next Wed 14 April in the Bistro, Ground Floor RACV Club, 501 Bourke St Melbourne.

I have booked a table for 20 which I can adjust.

Smart casual ( in autumnal shades) , tales of one hour gained and your thoughts on the world at large are standard fare.

I think a toast to Dick Flint would also be appropriate.

I would once again expect about $40 per head sticking with our main course, house wines, beer, soft drink and coffee/tea.

Ian Kelly will pick up in this broadcast.

Just a reminder that so far we 8 acceptances to ANZAC Day lunch in the Bistro, wives /partners invited.

Please advise your attendance at lunch via my email address above and below by close of play  on Monday 12 April so that I can ensure seating for all.

Cheers

Brian

Death of Malcolm Smith Class 3/66

On Tuesday 6 April 2021 it was announced that a PNG National, who had been transferred to Queensland for treatment, had died of COVID complications in a hospital north of Brisbane. This morning it was announced that the man was Malcolm ‘Kela’ Smith. Mal Smith was a graduate with OTU Class 3/66. He had spent most of the last 50 years in PNG running a successful business and had been a Provincial Governor. His body is being repatriated to PNG for burial. Details of the funeral will be advised when known.

Coincidentally, an article for almost completed The Scheyvillian 1 of 2021, under the ‘Whatever Happened To’ section, had been prepared. This will now feature under the ‘Vale’ section.
