From Les Boag:
I have spoken with Jim Gilchrist and received an email from him. Jim forwarded to me an email from a gentleman called, Peter Vincent who is the Funeral Director in Ulverstone Tasmania who is directing the funeral for Peter Mitchell MacFetters (2/65) (Nee Peter John Collas). The email states:
Subject: Live stream – Mr MacFetters
For anyone wishing to watch Mr MacFetters’s funeral by live streaming:
Please join the Facebook group Peter MacFetters live stream December 2020, link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/petermacfettersfuneral
Please join as soon as convenient (don’t wait until just before the service).
The live stream will start on the group page a few minutes before 11 am on Monday, Tasmanian time.
Live streaming is dependent on reliable internet connections which are not always available. We strive to stream services uninterrupted but can not always do so. We can generally post a full video after the service when interruptions have occurred.
Kind regards
Peter Vincent

Peter MacFetters (2/65) (Nee Collas) settled in Canberra when he left the Army in 1987 and was heavily involved in the RSL in the ACT. During 2020, Peter and his wife Carol purchased what they described as their “ideal” home in Ulverstone Tasmania, which is on the northern coast about 15 kilometres from Devonport. During the middle of 2020, along with daughter Jodie, Peter and Carol sold up in Canberra and progressively moved to Ulverstone, including undergoing quarantine. Peter suffered a stroke on 2nd December and passed away on 3 December.
Jim Gilchrist (OCS 1/72) and Peter Eveille worked closely in the RSL with Peter MacFetters to manage the Woden Valley RSL Sub-Branch (S-B). Carol has asked the Woden Valley RSL S-B to provide a Funeral Tribute. They will film it on Thursday morning and send it directly to the Funeral Director. Peter Eveille is providing a part of the Eulogy and Jim doing the RSL service. Peter Eveille has advised that Carol and Jodie are struggling with Peter’s sudden passing but are coping.
Jim has advised that Bill Kaine from the Ulverstone RSL S-B is looking after some of Carol’s interests and is liaising on her behalf with the Funeral Director regarding the Tribute and military side of things. Any OTU members who are able and wish to attend please contact Bill Kaine or the Funeral Director, Peter Vincent: ulverstone@vincentfunerals.com.au
Best regards
