Our Monthly Lunch – Some Guidelines

Hi All,
About this time last year I sent out some guidelines about our monthly Lunch at the RACV Club.
Our lunches are mainly for camaraderie and a reasonably priced event.
Following the Feb lunch and some feedback received I thought another reminder is in order.
We have kept the cost of our lunches through most of last year at around $35 per head. This was largely due to having one course with tea/coffee and keeping our drinks to beer or house wines. We also often benefitted from the Member discounts that were made available.
We note that the cost is now $40 per head and while that is still very attractive the sharing of costs is not.
I make an even share at lunch to keep the cash collection easy and do allow for the non alcohol drinkers and at $40 if you have had a $20-$26 meal with a couple of wines/beer etc with coffee that is a fair distribution. However, at the Feb lunch there were several $30- $35 meals ordered and I am sure that you will see that after a $4.20 coffee there is not much left to cover the drinks bill.
On top of that, there was also an Irish Coffee at $14 ordered and that person was asked to pay $10 more.

Guys, the lunch is a delightful event and one that keeps us together but I think we have to be fair about the cost distribution. I have no intention of going through an individual billing process.
So I would ask that in the spirit of the occasion and our relationship, we limit our choice of meals to the $19-$26 mark ( Calamari $19 or $25 depending on size, Club Sandwich $20,Steak sandwich $23, Caeser Salad etc) and forgo the Beef Tenderloin, Spanner crab and other delights at the $29-$35 mark.

I hope this is seen as reasonable and look forward to our next lunch on 11March.
Thanks in anticipation

Regards
Brian

National Treasurer – OTU Association

National Treasurer

Dear Scheyvillians,, after holding the position for around twenty years, OTU National and OTU Victorian Treasurer, Ray Elder, has decided that it is time to retire from both roles upon completion of financial statements for the year ending 30 June 2020. He will continue as a member of the Executive.

Ray has made an outstanding contribution to both bodies. He is to be applauded for all he has done in “keeping the blokes together”.

As a consequence we advise with pleasure that Harry Moyle (4/67) has agreed to take on the Treasurer’s role as from 1st July. He will be joining the Association Executive at the next (February) meeting.

Harry served in Vietnam with 5 RAR. He is a retired Public Accountant and Financial Planner who operated his own suburban practice for over twenty years. We welcome him to the Executive.

Bernie Gleeson
Secretary, OTU Association.
