OTU VICTORIAN CHAPTER – PARTICIPATION IN 2023 ANZAC DAY MARCH TO THE SHRINE OF REMEMBRANCE

Dear Victorian Scheyvillian, the OTU Association will, once again, be parading as a separate unit in this year’s ANZAC Day march to Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance. To all Scheyvillians the march presents an opportunity to be part of this great Australian tradition.

We would be keen indeed to have you join us.

The details are as follows: –

Dress. Suit/Jacket and tie – preferably the OTU tie if possible.

Medals. Please wear all medals you have been awarded.

Assembly. According to the RSL we are to assemble on the South side of Flinders Street at the Western side of Swanston Street at 0915 hrs for 0952 hrs march off.

It is strongly urged we gather at the assembly point by 0900 hrs as the actual march off time has been significantly ahead of that stipulated in recent years.

RSL Marshals will direct you to the precise location. Our contingent will be behind the National Servicemen’s Association.

After the March. We will once again be a having mixed get together after the march. This will be held at the RACV Bistro, RACV Club, 501 Bourke St, Melbourne 1200 hrs for 1230 hrs. (Tel 9944 8888). Enter via the front door. Tram No. 58, caught in St. Kilda Road, will carry marchers from the Shrine to the Club.

A fixed menu, with several choices, has been ordered. Drinks, to be paid individually and separately, will be at bar prices.

The meal will cost $40.00 per head with payment required before the event.

GIBSON, Fraser Maxwell (Death notices, Melbourne, Herald Sun)

Advice has just been received from Leigh Treyvaud:

Fraser Maxwell GIBSON DFC.

Fraser passed away peacefully at East Melbourne on 15 March 2023. Fraser was the older brother of Fergus and Guy.

He was the loved husband of Gayle for 55 years, the beloved father of Gabrielle and loving grandfather of Fraser.

‘May your last flight be peaceful, you were a kind, courageous man, and a true gentleman. You will be missed by us, always.’

It was Fraser’s wishes for a private service and burial.
