Gd’day Troops
I trust you are all still travelling well.
Lunch is booked for Wednesday 8 June from 12.30 in the Bistro at the RACV Club 501 Bourke St Melbourne.
As always, smart casual, good humour, around $45 and evidence of your triple vax please (condition of entry to RACV).
As a reminder, to keep the costs down, please keep to beer or soft drink or house red and white wines and we keep the meals around the $20-$25 mark, just a main course and then tea and coffee. This should normally keep the cost around $45 per head.
There is a National/State Committee meeting in the business centre at RACV after the lunch.
Please advise your acceptance by COB Mon 6 June to my email below.
Please note due to renovations the lunch is still located on Level 1 see below.
Cheers and stay well
Brian

Message: Reaching Out to Every Sapper of the Corps of Royal Australian Engineers past and present as well as all serving and former members of the ADF. We need your donations as DVA has rejected our grant application.
Take part in a history making event. The 1st Field Squadron RAE Association is spearheading a team that will build:
The one and only Monument to every Australian Army Engineer Unit that served in World War 1
in ANZAC Park, Toowong, Brisbane. Dedication date is 11 November 2022commencing at 4:30 pm.
The Monument will be a Bailey footbridge measuring 15.24 metres long and 2.1 metres wide.
Made from hot-dipped galvanised steel, this monument provides a useful walkway across difficult terrain joining a public carpark with a children’s playground. The internal safety panel will have images of kangaroos, the engineer bursting bombs and the National symbols of France and Australia. Why are we including France?
This bridge will be a sister bridge to another one just like it, to be located in the City of Amiens in France. Entitled “The Bridge of Friendship Between Australia and France: Dedicated to every Australian Army Engineer Unit that served in World War One” these bridges serve to acknowledge the magnificent service contributed to both the combat ‘tooth’ units and the logistic ‘tail’ elements supporting them during the Great War.
Australian Army engineers provided innumerable feats of combat under hazardous circumstances particularly after the Battle of Amiens – 8 August 1918. There is nothing to acknowledge these engineer soldiers by way of a monument. The Bridges in Amiens,France & Toowong,Brisbane will serve as a perpetual memory to our forebears.
Like so many other monuments, our bridge needs financial support. We applied to DVA for financial assistance to build it but were refused. DVA has not contributed one brass-razoo to the financial support of our bridge, so its up to us to raise the money to make it a reality. 1 FD SQN Association is registered as a charity. If you make as donation to the bridge fund it is both tax claimable and your name will appear in the honour roll of donors to be preserved forever.
Please donate to:

and make sure you leave your name and phone number in your deposit remarks panel, so we know who you are and how to contact you.
See you at the dedication in ANZAC Park, Toowong, Brisbane on 11 November 2022.
