Konrad
Duntroon Society Victoria
—————————————————————————

Good morning all,
The Society’s first Newsletter of the year is now available online and can be accessed here or you can search for Duntroon Society Newsletter in your browser.
In this edition Kiwi Bill Bestic (RMC December 1994) recalls his experience of service in East Timor, (commencing with two and a half hours’ notice for the deployment) and a cavalcade of ADFA and RMC classmates who he encountered then and in his current career as trauma physician and anesthetist (pp. 1-2). David Wilkins (RMC 1963) recalls his experience of long distance patrolling as a platoon commander in the Royal Pacific Islands Regiment (pp. 3-7). The Commandant provides her report on the College (pp. 7-8), the OTU and the WRAAC Associations provide reports (p.9) plus all the usual updates.
Following the success of the Society’s silk RMC ties, the Society can now provide an equally high-quality silk twill striped scarf for women: in RMC colours, 60 cm × 60 cm, designed, printed, cut and hemmed in Australia from imported silk. Purchase from: https://www.dunsoc.com/shop.
Best wishes,
Chris Appleton

Victorian Scheyvillians, the OTU Association will, once again, be parading as a separate unit in this year’s ANZAC Day march to Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance. To all Scheyvillians the march presents an opportunity to be part of this great Australian tradition. We would be keen indeed to have you join us.

The details are as follows: –

Dress. Suit/Jacket and tie – preferably the OTU tie if possible.

Medals. Please wear all medals you have been awarded.

Assembly. We are to assemble on the North side of Collins Street at the Eastern side of Swanston Street at 0930 hours for a 1000 hours  march off. The assembly time margin is to cover the eventuality of an earlier start before of the nominated time. Please be on time as there have been instances of the march leaving well ahead of schedule. RSL Marshals will direct you to the precise location. Our contingent will be behind the National Servicemen’s Association.

After the March. We will once again be a having mixed get together after the march. This will be held at the RACV Bistro, RACV Club, 501 Bourke St, Melbourne. (Tel 9944 8888). Tram No. 58, caught in St. Kilda Road, will carry marchers from the Shrine to the Club.

Please note: due to renovations the Bistro has been relocated from the ground floor to the Tarrant Room on Level 1. Access is through the Club car park entrance (New Chancery Lane) – not the main Bourke St door.

A fixed menu has been ordered. Drinks, to be paid individually and separately, will be at bar prices.

The meal will cost $50.00 per head with payment required before the event.
